Collection: EMU Australia

EMU Australia was established by Australia's Jackons Tannery in 1948 and remains on the Geelong coast road next to the Atlantic Ocean where it all began. Inspired by the original "Ugly Boot" - hence "ugg" - that surfers made from sheepskin fleeces to warm their feet when they came out of freezing winter waters, EMU Australia has maintained it's roots and is often copied but never bettered.

When one of EMU's US retailers changed hands in 1995, that company registered the brand UGG and sourced their boots from China, using sheepskin bought on the world market. EMU continued it's production in Australia under it's own name and to this day only uses Australian Merino wool, leather and Australian sheepskin, which are world renowned as the finest for their super-natural qualities including next-to-skin softness, as well as being renewable, biodegradable and 100% natural.

EMU Australia has always supported independent retailers around the world and invested in waterproof technology. Our range of Kids' and Ladies' EMU boots are water resistant or fully waterproof.
